Battlestar Galactica Finale
Great end, great show, we'll miss you BSG!
Episode 19: Daybreak (Part 1)
This is part one of the Battlestar Galactica Finale, revealing some interesting aspects from the
past of the main characters, living in the pre-war Caprica. We get to see Baltar's first date with Caprica Six and we also get to meet his hilarious father. Lee Adama is visiting his younger brother Zak, who's involved with Kara Thrace at that time. Laura Roslin also shows up cheerful and everything's great, until the next day, when she finds out that her dad and two sisters were killed by a drunk driver. Back in the present, on board Galactica, Baltar might be the author of humanity's final chapter, according to Caprica Six, while Tyrol is being kept in the brig and tries to convince Helo that all skin jobs are actually the same. Starbuck is still busy trying to figure out the secret behind Hera's song, and so is Calvin on board the Cylon Colony.
Adama insures Kara Thrace that she would remain his daughter no matter what she is and, after a conversation with Anders, decides to go to the Cylon Colony. The reasons which determined Adama to ask for volunteers and go after Hera in this season's finale rescue mission are unknown at this time. What is known is that people made their choice and are preparing for a though battle, while we wait to see what will happen next in the last episode of Battlestar Galactica Season 4.
Episode 20: Daybreak (Part 2)
All of this has happened before, but it won't happen again, because this is it, folks. This is where the Battlestar Galactica ends, the so-called Season Finale. A flashback takes us inside a strip club on Caprica, where Tigh and Adama are getting themselves drunk, while discussing the last one's retirement. Ellen is present too. At Kara Thrace's apartment, she, Zak and Lee are debating politics until Zak passes out.
In the present, Baltar decides to stay with the Battlestar Galactica, the attack plan is spread across the entire ship and everyone assumes military positions. Also, the Hybrid Anders is hooked up to the CIC in the hope that he can help, and Laura Roslin says farewell to Dr. Cottle, as he gives her enough medicine to last for two more days.
Before leading the Battlestar Galactica to what will turn out to be the biggest battle ever, in this Season Finale, Lt. Hoshi is promoted as Admiral of the Fleet and Romo Lampkin becomes the new president. After that, the Galactica jumps to the Cylon Colony and takes an incredible amount of punishment, until Anders shuts down the Hybrids. Then the ship makes a hole through the Colony's hull and unloads teams of humans and Centurions, which immediately start their search for Hera.
The battle sequence between the Battlestar Galactica and the Cylon Colony is truly epic in scale, with lots of vipers, raiders and explosions happening at once. I've never seen something like that since... Hell, I haven't seen something like that before! It felt like real combat.
Baltar and Caprica Six end up together to fulfill their joint destiny as parents to the next generation of God's Children, according to their Angels. Starbuck, Helo and Athena meet up with Boomer, who gives them Hera, but she shortly runs away. While Laura Roslin and Athena chase after Hera onboard the Galactica, they meet with Baltar and Six, and together head to the CIC, fantasizing about the well-known opera house. Continued here »

* Gaius Baltar and Caprica Six
Continued...
On CIC, Calvin grabs Hera and Colonel Tigh offers to give the Cylons the resurrection technology, if Calvin lets Hera go. While working together towards providing the Cylons with the information they need, Tyrol gets access to Tory's memory of killing Cally. He chokes Tory to death and a fire exchange starts between Cylons and humans. Then a Raptor accidentally unleashes its nukes into the Colony and Starbuck jumps the Battlestar Galactica at the coordinates similar with those notes from All Along the Watchtower song.
They find a blue planet, full of life, green grass and natives, where they decide to stay. The Cylons agree to let the Centurions fly off on the Basestar, while Hybrid Anders leads the entire fleet into the sun, leaving the humans scattered on the planet. They will live simple lives in order to break the cycle (Remember "All this has happened before and it will happen again"?). Laura Roslin dies and Adama promises he will build her that cabin she always wanted.
150,000 years later in the modern New York City, 'Angel' Six and 'Angel' Baltar discuss on the premise of 'all this' might happen again, while agreeing on the possibility that God might allow the cycle to be broken. Battlestar Galactica Finale ends with the well known theme song and scenes from various breakthroughs in robotics.
We say goodbye to the most significant sci-fi series on television, Battlestar Galactica 2003, of the last decade. We say goodbye to the characters who have so deeply impacted all of our lives with their hopes and dreams. We'll miss drinks with Adama and Tigh; we'll miss the battlestar Galactica, mother and protector of the people of the fleet; we'll miss the epic, spectacular and frenetic space battles; we'll miss talking to imaginary friends, since Gaius Baltar made talking to yourself cool again; but most of all, we'll miss Six in her sexy red dress, having no comparison but maybe Smallville's Lana Lang.
Battlestar Galactica isn't over yet. There's still "The Plan" miniseries, which will explain exactly what the Cylon plan was, hopefully. And there's also "Caprica", who promises a thought-provoking look at artificial intelligence and playing God. Overall, BSG has been a good journey, a memorable one... So say we all!
